Creative Consultation

Through our creative consultations, we want to help and support organisations to create opportunities for people to be heard. We work with children and young people, and the wider community in collaboration with organisations to explore how they can do things differently to inform processes, policies and research.

GIFT is committed to creating safe, non-judgemental spaces to bring people together to share their thoughts and feedback on specific topics. We approach our work with curiosity and openness to invite honest and authentic responses. We use a range of methods which respond to the needs of the organisations and the people we work with.

Previous Consultations

We have partnered with several organisations to deliver bespoke packages of creative consultation. Here are some examples of the projects that we’ve worked on.

The Scottish Government is currently developing a set of standards for a Barnahus model in Scotland. Barnahus, or Child’s House, is a child-centred response for children who are victims or witnesses of serious crime and abuse.

In 2021 we completed a project in partnership with the Moira Anderson Foundation (MAF) and Healthcare Improvement Scotland where we ran creative workshops with young people to get feedback on the structure, layout, look and language of the proposed standards for Scotland. To find out more, you can read the report we created.

Due to the success of the Barnahus project, we teamed up again with the MAF to deliver a creative consultation about young people’s experiences of accessing support at MAF. This was funded by the Paristamen Blue Sky grant. The output was an animation designed and directed by young people and supported by Growth Animation and Dr Javita Narang; you can view the animation here.

Most recently, we’ve been supporting the Jersey Government on the consultation and design of a new Victim Advocacy Centre on the island. We are currently consulting with professionals, schools and survivors to get their feedback on the physical environment of the proposed new centre.

Our aim is to champion collaboration and partnership working with organisations. If you are looking to find out more about how we could work together, drop us an email at: hello@giftscotland.co.uk
